Jennifer Lawrence Speaks Show Figure On Stage

Jennifer Lawrence is a beautiful woman. She's young — can you believe she's still only 22? — she's blonde (usually), and she's got a killer hourglass figure. Anyone who can see knows that she is one of the most gorgeous women in Hollywood (or like, anywhere). And yet, you rarely see Lawrence's name in a headline without a comment about her weight attached.

Now, this is an utterly and completely wrong accusation that Lawrence throws upon herself, even in a sarcastic way, because let’s face it- People would die for her curves. She knows that she doesn’t want to affect youngsters or inspire them to shed weight to become stick-thin. She prides herself on wanting to make her body look just exactly right. She has been aiming to be fit and strong rather than being anorexic. This fact in itself has merits; another actor acknowledging that being fit and healthy is more important than being thin. She is a fine epitome of this thinking, along the ranks of Scarlett Johansson and Christina Hendricks. She knows that anorexic body role models are harmful to a young girl.

Despite all this, her sarcastic remark to call herself fat was not smart, because so many things are misconstrued by the media, especially sensitive issues like body weight and the measure of obesity. Of course, the main culprit is usually the media. A person with Lawrence’s size who should be applauded is thrown questions about her ‘fat’ figure. It is completely ridiculous to be talking in such terms in every interview that Lawrence features in. Just because the star was a bit chubby before, as to be expected of a young adolescent stepping into the ranks of a full-fledged adult, there is no reason that it should be brought up now.

Now she is just as slender as Kate Upton on the cover of Sport’s Illustrated or Jennifer Aniston on Vogue’s cover. Now, she has fully transformed into the amazing and beautiful woman we know and love on screen. Some say the media should stop bothering her with ridiculous questions that bear absolutely no significance. Rather than bringing up the past, the media and the people alike should concentrate on the true beauty of people. A star’s size and shape have always been the focus on much scrutiny. Sadly it is the media’s role to try and come up with exciting quotes to draw in more readers, and this always leads towards controversy where there was none. Luckily, there has been more of a backlash against the media in this case than against the star herself, as people can see that her words were taken out of context.
